The Navy veteran and steamfitter who shocked the political establishment in 2024 is running again — and the Associated Press took notice.
The Associated Press covered the launch of Dan Osborn’s new independent campaign for U.S. Senate in Nebraska, this time taking on incumbent Republican Pete Ricketts. The AP’s report recounts what makes Dan such a singular figure in American politics: a Navy veteran and industrial mechanic who led the successful 2021 strike at Omaha’s Kellogg’s plant, then came out of nowhere in 2024 to outraise a sitting Republican senator and finish within single digits in one of the reddest states in the country — all without a party behind him.
As the AP notes, Osborn is framing this race as a fight between working Nebraskans and a political class dominated by wealth. His opponent is one of the richest members of the United States Senate. Dan fixes machines for a living. That contrast is the campaign.
Independent Veterans of America is proud to stand with Dan Osborn. He is living proof of what IVA has said from day one: independent veterans are the most credible, most trusted, and most electable alternative to a broken two-party system. Nebraska showed the country in 2024 that an independent veteran can compete anywhere. In 2026, Dan is going to finish the job.
